The Best Student Nights in Leeds: Why the Bingo Rave Rules
Blow off some steam
July 1, 2025
So, you're studying in Leeds and looking for the ultimate night out. You’ve probably done the Otley Run a dozen times, and you've definitely spent way too much time in crowded campus bars. But if you haven't experienced the absolute chaos of Bongo's Bingo in Leeds yet, you are missing out on the wildest student night in the city.
Forget everything you think you know about bingo. If you're picturing a quiet community hall and a lukewarm cup of tea, you're in the wrong place. Here is why the bingo rave rules the Leeds student scene.
1. Two Massive Leeds Venues
We don't mess around in Yorkshire, which is why we take over two epic spots: the legendary O2 Academy and the incredible Project House. If you're heading to a show at the O2 Academy, you'll want to get down early. The venue is split between stalls and a balcony, and if you want to be right in the thick of the action at the tables and benches downstairs, it’s first-come, first-served.
2. Prizes You Didn't Know You Needed
This isn't your nan's bingo. Where else can you win a giant pink fluffy unicorn and cold hard cash all in the same hour? Sure, the money is great, but the glory of winning a Henry Hoover in front of 1,000 people? That's priceless.

3. The Rules of the Rave
A Bongo's night out in Leeds is a full-on production. We've got rave intervals, dance-offs, and plenty of "false call" banter. When certain numbers are called, the music drops, and the room transforms into a warehouse rave.
Between the numbers, expect impromptu dance-offs, stage invasions, and the kind of singalongs that will have you losing your voice by midnight. But beware the Golden Rule: if you call "Bingo" and you're wrong, be prepared for a very loud welcome from the entire room. You have been warned.
4. Leeds Student-Only Specials
We love our Leeds students so much that we run exclusive Student Only Specials (like our massive Halloween Carnevil and St Patrick's Day shows). Grab your mates, grab your NUS card, and get ready for a night of pure magic. It's a judgement-free zone where the only rule is to leave your inhibitions at the door (and watch out for flying Coco Pops).
The Logistics: Need to Know
What to Wear: There's no "black tie" here, love. Whether you're in full fancy dress or just a nice top and jeans, wear something you can move in. Leave the stilettos at home unless you have the balance of an Olympic gymnast.
Entry: Get there early! Doors usually open an hour or two before the first game. You want to bag the best table for your squad.
Eyes Down, Ears Open: Yes, we actually play bingo. You'll get your book and pen on entry. Keep your eyes on the numbers, but keep your ears open for the special songs.
Tickets: Grab yours before they're gone.
